Photoetched pins are similiar to diestruck in that all colored areas are surrounded by a metal line (either gold, silver, or black). However, they are created transferring a design onto the surface of metal using an acid-reaction etching process. The pin is then cleaned, hand painted, and then fired at a high temperture. The final step is to epoxy coat the pin to protect the inks. Photoetched pins are very classy and highly detailed but slightly thinner and less heavy then diestruck.
